I am an estate planning attorney with an office in Valparaiso, Indiana. I have practiced law for more than 25 years and am licensed to practice law in Indiana, Illinois, and New York. While my current practice is in the area of wills and trusts, I come to it with a broad background that includes many years of experience in corporate law, corporate finance, and not-for-profit law, as well as the teaching of contracts, sales, commercial transactions, and legal ethics. I am a Lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, and my office is located just west of Valparaiso, Indiana.
Do You Have an Estate Plan?
If you think you have no estate plan then what you really have is the default plan provided by the state. That is worth a moment's reflection. If you were to die tomorrow, to whom would your property go? Is that what you want? You have a great deal of power over what happens to your estate—but it doesn't matter much if you don't exercise it.
This website is designed to help you explore some of the initial questions you might have in considering the kind of estate plan that would best fit your situation. I address these questions in a general way, without being able to enter specifically into any particular set of facts. I have tried, however, to say enough to allow you to begin wrestling with the issues involved in coming up with an estate plan that will work for you. If you would like to discuss these matters as they apply to you, please contact me.
Questions You Might Have
You may have a number of threshold questions that stand between you and an estate plan. I address some of these questions to the extent I can without knowing the specifics of your situation.
